Hearths

For a stove installation a hearth will be needed. To meet regulations the hearth must be a different height, material and colour to the floor to both identify the stove area as a ‘hotspot’ to residents and visitors and to prevent occupants from carpeting right up to the stove. Slate, glass or Vlaze is popular depending on what material the floor is made of (a glass hearth isn’t appropriate on carpet). In a corner, a teardrop hearth is popular.
